Derek's passion for basketball started young, nurtured on AAU travel teams during his formative years. He was a standout on his high school team, achieving All-Star recognition. His talent caught the eye of college scouts, leading him to play for West Hills College in California then onto Northeastern State In Oklahoma.

     Family life brought new joy with the arrival of his son, who, at just four years old, discovered his own love for the game. In 2014, Derek embraced a new chapter, becoming his son's head coach. This ignited a passion for guiding young talent that transcended his playing career. After honing his skills coaching middle school teams for a few years, Derek moved on to the high school level, where he continues to make a positive impact. He has coached countless teams across various organizations, leading them to numerous championship victories. Above All Vegas Rebels is his priority and he continues to strive to have one of the top most affordable basketball clubs in the valley.

      Derek's legacy extends beyond solely the game of basketball. He cultivates a supportive environment where players learn not just the game, but also teamwork, discipline, and resilience. He instills in them a love for the sport that goes beyond the final buzzer, shaping them into well-rounded individuals both on and off the court.
